CAMPBELL CR800 Measurement and Control Datalogger
The CR800 is a smaller, research-grade datalogger designed for stand-alone operation in harsh, remote environments. It is intended for smaller configurations in which fewer sensors will be measured. Each CR800 reads input from sensors, then transmits the data via a communication peripheral; most sensors and telecommunication devices are compatible. Multiple CR800s can be configured as a network or units can be deployed individually.
The CR800 consists of measurement electronics encased in a plastic shell and an integrated wiring panel. This datalogger uses an external keyboard/display and power supply. Low power consumption allows the CR800 to operate for extended periods on a battery recharged with a solar panel—eliminating the need for AC power. The CR800 suspends execution when primary power drops below 9.6 V, reducing the possibility of inaccurate measurements.
- Sensors
With several channel types, the CR800 is compatible with nearly every available sensor, including thermocouples, SDI-12 sensors, and 4 to 20 mA sensors. A custom ASIC chip expands its pulse count, control port, and serial communications capabilities. The CR850's I/O ports can be paired as transmit and receive, allowing serial communications with serial sensors and devices.
- Measurement & Control Peripherals
The CR800 is compatible with all of our CDMs (requires an SC-CPI), SDMs, multiplexers, vibrating-wire interfaces, terminal input modules, and relays.
- Communications
The CR800 communicates with a PC via direct connect, NL201 Ethernet Interface, multidrop modems, short haul modems, phone modems (land line, digital cellular, and voice-synthesized), RF telemetry, and satellite transmitters (Argos and High Data Rate GOES).
- Meteorology
The CR800 is used in long-term climatological monitoring, meteorological research, and routine weather measurement applications.
- Wind Profiling
Our data acquisition systems can monitor conditions at wind assessment sites, at producing wind farms, and along transmission lines.
- Air Quality
The CR800 can monitor and control gas analyzers, particle samplers, and visibility sensors. The datalogger can also automatically control calibration sequences and compute conditional averages that exclude invalid data
- Water Resources/Aquaculture
Our CR800 is well-suited to remote, unattended monitoring of hydrologic conditions. Most hydrologic sensors, including SDI-12 probes, interface directly to the datalogger.
- Vehicle Testing
This versatile, rugged datalogger is ideally suited for testing cold and hot temperature, high altitude, off-highway, and cross-country performance.
- Soil Moisture
The CR800 is compatible with the following soil moisture measurement technologies: Soil moisture blocks, Matric water potential sensors, TDR, Self-contained water content reflectometers and Tensiometers.

CAMPBELL CR850 Measurement and Control Datalogger
The CR850 is a smaller, research-grade datalogger that includes an on-board keyboard display as part of its integrated package. It is intended for smaller configurations in which fewer sensors will be measured. Each CR850 reads input from sensors, then transmits the data via a communication peripheral; most sensors and telecommunication devices are compatible. Multiple CR850s can be configured as a network or units can be deployed individually. This rugged datalogger can provide stand-alone operation in harsh, remote environments.
The CR850 consists of measurement electronics encased in a plastic shell with an integrated wiring panel, 16- character keyboard, and display screen. The display can show 8 lines x 21 characters (64 x 128 pixels). Custom menus are supported allowing customers to set up choices within the datalogger program that can be initiated by a simple “toggle” or “pick list”. Its keyboard and display screen is used to program the datalogger, manually initiate data transfer, and display data.
The CR850 uses an external power supply. Low power consumption allows the it to operate for extended periods on a battery recharged with a solar panel—eliminating the need for AC power.
