ใส่ตัวอย่างน้ำลงในบีกเกอร์ 25 mL ใส่สาร NO₃-RA ลงในบีกเกอร์ คนประมาณ 5 - 6 ครั้ง	นำบีกเกอร์ไปตั้งไฟเป็นเวลา 2 นาที จากนั้นให้นำบีกเกอร์มาพักไว้จนกว่าจะกลับสู่อุณหภูมิห้อง	เทตัวอย่างน้ำใส่ในขวดทดลองพร้อมกับน้ำบริสุทธิ์ 25 mL (ถึงขีดด้านข้างขวด) จากนั้นจึงนำไปเข้าสู่ขั้นตอนการวัดค่า NO₃_3
